      Private Graveside Services Will Be Held

      Darrell D. Roosevelt, age 91, of Mt Carmel, IL, formerly of Albion, IL passed away at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mt Carmel on May 12, 2020.
      He was born on March 10, 1929 in Albion, IL the youngest son of John Earl and May Edith (West) Roosevelt. He married Wanda L. Simms on February 20, 1949. They shared 71 years of marriage.
      After marrying, Darrell got called to serve his country in the Korean conflict. Darrell served in the US Army in the Second Division in Forward Artillery from 1952-1953.
      He then worked with the area farmers as he worked for Production Credit Association for 33 years.
      He was a devoted Christian and served the Lord in many ways in his churches; United Methodist Church and First Christian Church.
      After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He fished many “secret” ponds. He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
      Left to cherish Darrell’s memory is his wife, Wanda, of Mt. Carmel, son, Jerry (Patricia) Roosevelt of Waterloo, IL, daughter Renee (Ken) Wood of Mt. Carmel, grandchildren: Darryl (Brandy) Roosevelt of Collinsville, IL, Devan (Scott) Holman of O’Fallon, IL, William (Elizabeth) Wood of Helena, MT, Emily (Ben) Heidinger of Newburgh, IN and Kyle (Briana) Wood of Newburgh, IN., great-grandchildren: Jimmy Kruta, Damon and Jerry Wayne Roosevelt, Levi, Garrett and Sophie Holman, Lennon Wood and Avett Heidinger.
      Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert “Bud”, John, Paul, twin brother Don Roosevelt and sister, Evelyn Boewe.
      Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions in place, private graveside services will be held
      On Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Mt Zion Cemetery.
      Memorials are encouraged to the Alzheimer’s Association.

      Darrell was probably the best Professor I had for working in the lending game. I will miss him and his stories.
      He was a very special friend for almost 50 years.

      I remember Darrell coming to the dance at the fairground in Albion Illinois. Dancing with wife Wanda
      Talking to everyone there and having a great time visiting with folks.

      I know Darrell is in Heaven now
