Damaris Jae Matchem, 47, of West Salem, Illinois passed away on August 10, 2024 in Panama City, Florida.

Damaris Matchem was born in South America on July 20, 1977. She was adopted by Jeff and Judith Cralle, of West Salem, Illinois. She also had an adopted sister, Julie.

After graduating from Edwards County High School in 1996, she received her RN degree at Madisonville Community College. She had a passion for helping others and would always say ”I treated others like I would want others to treat my kids.” Her children were the world to her! Damaris married her high school sweetheart Lynn Matchem in 1996, and during their marriage they had four children: Jocelynn, Xavier, Kenzley and Blaize.

Damaris Matchem lived her life the best way she knew, and left this earth wishing that her children would find safety in this mixed-up world. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Damaris is survived by her husband Lynn; children Jocelynn, Xavier, Kenzley, Blaize and her grandson Legend. Also surviving are her parents, Jeff & Judy Cralle, and sister Julie Graham, and her nieces and nephew.

Visitation for Damaris Matchem will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. A funeral service will be held following at 11:00 a.m.

Damaris was one of my bridesmaids. She sang the most beautiful song at my wedding and was such a dear friend. Her voice and friendship will be missed by many. I will be praying for her family.

Damaris was my neighbor in Oceanside, California and was the sweetest and hardworking woman and mother. We were so blessed the year+ we lived next to each other to have met her and her children, especially her son Xavier who became best friends with my son. My condolences and prayers to her children and husband and family, she will be greatly missed.
