  • Full Obituary

Colonel (USAFR Ret.) Lynn W. Jobes, age 54, died on Friday, October 26, 2012 after a long battle with kidney cancer surrounded by his loving family.

Col Jobes was born April 13, 1958, in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1976. Upon graduation from West Virginia University and completion of the Reserve Officer Training, he was commissioned in the Air Force in 1982 as an aircraft maintenance officer. His assignments on active duty included Robins AFB, GA where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and Castle AFB, CA. He resigned his regular commission in 1988 and entered the Air Reserve Technician program at  the 439th Airlift Wing, Westover AFB, MA. In 1993 he was reassigned to the 910th Airlift Wing in Youngstown, OH. In 1999, he was reassigned to Headquarters, United States Air Forces Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where he served 5 years in both a military and civilian capacity. In 2004, he was assigned to Headquarters, Air Force Material Command Liason Office at Scott AFB, IL, and served as a civilian employee at Headquarters Air Mobility Command in the Directorate of Logisitics. His final tour of service in the Reserve was as the 932nd Mission Support Group Commander, Scott AFB, IL. Col Jobes retired with 30 years of both military and federal civil service in August 2012. In his spare time, Lynn loved devoting time to what he fondly called his wife’s “Honey, I’ve been thinking” list which included extensive old home restorations and projects. As a teen, having worked with his grandfather as an apprentice in construction, he learned all about carpentry, plumbing and electricity. There was nothing he could not fix.  Above all, Lynn was a devoted son, husband and father.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Colonel Denny (Czock) Jobes, formerly of Glenn Rock, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Olivia Jobes; his daughter, Emily Jobes; his daughter, Meral Jobes; his mother, Judi (Evans) Jobes of Minerva, OH; his father, William Jobes of Carrollton, OH; his siblings, Julie (Bill) Grove of Minerva, OH, and Lee (wife: Jean, sons: Ian and Riley) Jobes of Carrollton, OH; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St Louis Children’s Hospital, (314) 286-0988; or the 932 AW Top Three Benevolent Fund, c/o 932 FSS/FSFR, 2400 East Dr., Rm. 135, Scott AFB, IL 62225.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, 603 W. St. Louis St., Lebanon, IL, on Friday, November 2. Visitation: 1:00 p.m., Service: 2:00 pm.
