Clifford E. Dawson, of Mukwonago, WI, formerly of Lebanon, IL, died on January 23, 2013 at the age of 85.
Clifford was born on April 9, 1927 in Cliffton Springs, NY, son of the late Arnold and Barbara (nee Van Houten) Dawson. He married Carolyn Koehler on January 3, 1968 in Lebanon, IL. She preceded him in death in 2002.
Clifford is survived by his daughter Lori (Forrest “Butch”) Feldt and grandchildren Devin and Megan Feldt, all of Mukwonago, and a sister Barbara (Judi Robinson) Dawson of South Carolina.
Clifford was drafted into the Army in 1945 at the age of eighteen. He served in Germany at the end of World War II and was trained as a photographer. After a three year break from the service, Clifford enlisted in the Air Force. He served in the Air Force for sixteen years working as a Still and Motion Picture Photographer. Clifford retired from the Air Force in 1968.
Clifford began his police career in 1966 as a Relief Police Officer for the City of Lebanon. After he retired from the Air Force, he became a full-time police officer and in 1969 he became Chief of Police. He attended the 101st Session of the FBI National Academy in 1975. He retired as Chief of Police in 1984 after serving 18 years in the police force.
After his retirement, he operated his own wedding photography business with his wife Carolyn called Carol-Cliff Photo.
Memorials may be made to the Lebanon Education Foundation or Honor Flight Network.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at St Paul’s United Church of Christ in Lebanon.

Burial with full military honors at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Lebanon.
