Charles Winston "Chaz" Cornish, 60, of Vallejo, Calif., born July 4, 1952, in Oakland, Calif., departed this life Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at his residence.
Chaz attended school in Lebanon, Ill., where he participated in the athletic program under the direction of Mr. Hank Felt. As a Boy Scout he advanced to Eagle Scout and president of the Order of the Arrow. After high school graduation he attended SIU-Carbondale and SIU-Edwardsville, after which he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he advanced to chief petty officer. He served on the USS Admiral with ports in Southeast Asia and San Diego, Calif.
After discharge from the Navy, Chaz was employed for 30 years with AT&T Telephone Company, until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Cornish; and his sister, Carla R. Cornish.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Cornish; two sons, Shannon Peters of Champaign, Ill., and Adrian C. Cornish of Rancho Cardova, Calif.; a daughter, Kristi Cornish of Vallejo, Calif.; his mother, Ramona K. Cornish of Lebanon, Ill.; brothers, Walt Cornish of O'Fallon, Ill., Wilson Cornish of Belleville, Ill., George G. (Robin) Cornish of Kewanee, Ill., and Kimberson (Zenadia) Cornish of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sisters, Regina K. Weatherall of Springfield, Ill., Cathryn (Ray) Hernandez of Moore, Okla., and Andree G. Cornish of Lebanon, Ill.; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Meyers Funeral Home, Lebanon, Ill.
Funeral: A celebration of life is planned for 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Meyers Funeral Home, Lebanon, Ill. Interment will be at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
