Charles Laverne Block, 76, Long-time Cisne Resident

Charles Laverne Block, 76, of Cisne, died at Clay County Hospital on December 27, 2024.  Laverne was privileged to work as a client at the Career Development Center in Fairfield, Il for 50 years.

Laverne resided in Cisne where he was an iconic figure.  Residents knew him well and watched him walk to downtown several times a day to complete his daily tasks, eat at the businesses, and listen to others share their daily news.  Though his personal interactions might have been brief, many people were blessed by his innocence and gentleness.

He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and readily sharing his evaluation of their performance.  Laverne enjoyed family dinners, community meals, and especially desserts.

Laverne was born on October 8, 1948, to Randall Block and Helen (Tolliver) Block of Cisne, IL.
