Charles Hueseman, 79, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

He was born on May 12, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL, to Carl and Margaret (nee Levin) Hueseman.

Born with a natural talent for fixing things, Charles found joy in the art of repair. From his beloved old cars to the nooks and crannies of his home, he approached every task with meticulous care and a determination to make things right. His hands could turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, whether it was restoring a vintage tractor to its former glory or bringing life back to an antique jukebox.

In his moments of leisure, Charles found solace in the great outdoors. A skilled hunter, he enjoyed quiet moments in the wilderness, particularly when pursuing deer. His appreciation for nature's beauty was matched only by his respect for its creatures, making each hunting expedition a blend of excitement and reverence for the world around him.

Beyond his workshop and the great outdoors, Charles was a devoted fan of St. Louis sports. Whether cheering on the Cardinals or rallying behind the Blues, he embodied the true spirit of a loyal supporter. He never missed listening to or watching a St. Louis sports game, and remained a true fan, whether the home team won or lost.

Yet, amidst his passions and pursuits, Charles's greatest treasure was his family. A loving husband, father, and friend, he enriched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering support. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love will forever endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Levin; sister-in-law, Sherry Hueseman.

Charles is survived by his wife, Karen Hueseman; children, Scott (Joey) Hueseman, Carrie (Roberto) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Julia Hueseman, Jade Hueseman, Logan Gonzalez, Paulina Gonzalez; great-granddaughter, Ximena Gonzalez; brother Alan Hueseman; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Charlie and I were friends in high school. He was fun and smart. His nickname was “Duckie.” We both went to work for the Illinois Highway Department back in 1963. After serving in Vietnam in 1968 I moved away from the area never to see my friend again. I reconnected with him when he started the Class Creator East St. Louis Class of 1963 webpage. I’m sad.
