Charles A Burris, 81, of Highland, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Anderson Hospital is Maryville, IL.

He was born on August 20, 1943, in Hardin, IL, to Charles E. and Theresa (nee Gress) Burris.  He married Maureen McGee on October 16, 1965 in Panama, IL

Charles served in the Army after High School, in 1961, for 3-1/2 years in Germany.  He worked at American Steel in Granite City, IL, then became an Auto Worker at Chrysler until retirement in 2004.  Charles enjoyed playing pinochle and canasta.  Hunting and fishing were some of his other hobbies, also watching football and baseball.  He was a student of the weather and liked listening to Gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E and Theresa Burris; brothers, Ronald, Larry and Wayne Burris; half brother, James Wilson; sister, Mary Lou Blackwell; brother-in-law, Howard Zumwalt.

Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maureen Burris; sons, Daniel and Edward Burris; daughter-in-law, Donna Burris; sisters, Barbara Lucykow and Doris Zumwalt; sister-in-laws, Shiela,  Kathryn and Barbara Burris; granddaughter, Alicia Burris (engaged to Mike); plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Baptist Church.
