      Catherine “Louise” Shilling, 87, of West Salem, IL, died Friday, December 31, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Newburgh, IN.

      She was born February 11, 1934, to Clyde and Emily (Reid) Shelby in West Salem, IL.  On April 19, 1958, she married Jack Shilling at West Village Christian Church.

      Louise was a member of West Village Christian Church.  She was a club leader for Little Wabash Ramblers 4-H Club.  She was a homemaker and farm wife.  Louise was an avid reader, she loved travelling, listening to Sunday morning TV ministers, puzzles, puzzle books, collecting used stamps and old newspaper clippings.  She dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Emily Shelby.

      Louise is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Shilling, West Salem, IL; sons, Olin (Esther) Shilling, West Salem, IL, Allen (Adriana) Shilling, Parkersburg, IL; grandchildren, Aaron Shilling, Ruth (Carter) Wilkinson, Elijah (Kelsey) Shilling, Emily Shilling, Jessica Shilling, Lawrence Shilling, Alexander Shilling; great-grandchildren, Otto and Eleanor Wilkinson; several nieces and nephews.

      Memorials may be made to West Village Cemetery Fund.

      Graveside Service: Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm at West Village Cemetery.

      Ingram Meridith Funeral Home, West Salem.

      I always enjoyed going to visit Louise and have such fond memories of spending the whole day with the family. She was such a good cook and always engaging and pleasant to visit with. Please know you have our deepest sympathy and condolences.
