Carolyn K. “Casey” Andrew, 89, of Lebanon, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at her home, in Lebanon, IL.

Casey was born on July 7, 1935, in Nashville, TN to William Hampton and Eldridge Douglas (nee Banks) King. She spent most of her childhood years in Cleveland, MS, and attended Mississippi State College for Women where she graduated with a B.S. in library science. She met the love of her life, the late Lt. Col. Earl J. “Jack” Andrew, her first year of college while he was in flight school with the Air Force.  They dated long distance for three and a half years while Casey was in college and were married on February 16, 1957 in Jackson, MS.

Casey and Jack spent their first 15 years of marriage moving back and forth across the country from Maine to California and ended up at Scott Air Force base where Jack retired. They moved to Lebanon, IL in 1972 where the two quickly became active members of the community and the First United Methodist Church. Casey loved working with and helping other people which helped her to become a successful realtor for over 20 years.

Casey was a person of faith, love, and service not only to her family, but to the church and to the children and youth in her community, state, and ultimately around the world. She was very active with the church not only as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader but served in leadership roles with the United Methodist Women as District President, Conference Vice-President and Dean of the School of Mission. She was instrumental in keeping the Lebanon Community VBS alive, well, and thriving. In addition to the church, Casey served youth in the community through her service as a Board Member for both the Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House and the Cunningham Children’s Home, where she was Board President. Casey was also active with the Girl Scouts not just as a leader, but as a River Bluffs Council board member and President for several years. For all of her work with children, Casey was awarded the Mary Renfro Child Advocacy Lifetime Achievement Award.  Casey also belonged to the Lebanon Women’s Club and P.E.O. After Jack passed away in 2000, Casey carried on his work delivering Meals on Wheels and served as both Youth Exchange Officer and President of the Rotary Club.

Casey enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  Her passion for serving others was evident in everything she did.  Casey was a true servant of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Hampton and E. Douglas King; husband, Earl J. “Jack” Andrew; two children in infancy; and sister, Kay Valentine.

Casey is survived by her children, David (LaDonna) Andrew, Lebanon, IL, Kari (Greg) Yess, St. Louis, MO, and Eric (Angi) Andrew, O’Fallon, IL; grandchildren, Fredrick Andrew, Kirsti Yess, Tyler (Taylor) Yess, Kenzie (Matthew) Uchiyama, Wyatt Yess, Gregory (Sally) Andrew, and Ethan Andrew; step grandchildren, Kaylee (Trevor) Dumsdorff-Heien, Joshua (Makayla) Darnall, Lauren Garn, and Isabella Andrew; great grandchildren, Josie Yess, Connor Yess, and Cyrus Brown; brothers-in-law, Alec Valentine and Jason (Jean) Andrew; and sister-in-law, Sybil (Noel) Rasmussen.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon or The Looking Glass Playhouse.

I first met Casey when I was in high school, singing in church choir with her, and participating in MYF under her leadership. Wherever Casey was she brought a spark to what was going on, be it church activities or canoe trips. Grateful to God for her work in our church and community. (for David, Kari, and Eric–from EB)

When I think of Casey, I think of kindnesses. I got to know her when I sang in the choir of the UMC. One kindness that I still remember… We had moved to Lebanon in Oct. My husband was TDY to Florida in Jan. . leaving me at home with a 2 yo & a 9 yo. & snow was falling. I had a gallbladder attack that required surgery. When Casey learned that I was hospitalized, she brought food for my family. I still use one of her recipes for pasta salad and & have some yarn covered hangers that she gave me. I will miss knowing she lives down the street!
