    Carlyn Sams, 86, of Albion, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, Mt. Carmel, IL. She was born November 18, 1935, to William and Addie (Willis) Palfreeman in Bell City, MO.

    She married Virgil Sams in Albion, IL on April 28, 1956. Together they settled in Ellery, IL where they raised their daughter Patricia. Carlyn was a proud Women of the Moose member for over 35 years.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Addie Palfreeman, husband Virgil Sams, brother, Radean Palfreeman, and sister-in-law Billie Palfreeman.

    She is survived by daughter, Patricia (Charles) Powell, grandsons; Kevan (Stephanie) Schmittler, Roger (Alicia) Schmittler, eight great-grandchildren; Sophia Schmittler, Mason Schmittler, Roger Dale Schmittler, Alexis Schmittler, Danny Schmittler, Patrick Schmittler, Sara Schmittler and Trajon Shelton.

    Visitation: Thursday February 24,2022, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home, Albion, IL.

    Funeral Service: Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 1:00 pm, Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home, Albion, IL.

    Interment: Graceland Cemetery, Albion, IL

    During my mother’s life, Carlyn was always a good friend and helper to her. Carlyn was a good hearted person who always managed to see the bright side of life. My sympathy to Pattie and the rest of the family.
