Brian K. Schaefer, 60, of Pocahontas, IL, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.
Brian was born September 8, 1953, to Robert and Erna (Nee Schiller) Schaefer, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. On March 6, 1976, he married Wanda Fenton at the Assembly of God Church, Pocahontas, IL.
Brian worked for St. Joseph Hospital, Breese/HSHS for 36 years. He started at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL, in 1978. He transferred to Breese in 1988. He worked 25 years in food services and most recently transferred to the purchasing department in August 2013.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL; a former member of Dietary Managers Association; a Stephen Minister; Congregational Lay Leader at United Methodist Church. He coached little league baseball. He never met a stranger; loved life; always made you feel comfortable, valued and important. He was a true gentleman. He was dedicated to his family, his wife, children, grandchildren, mother and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Schaefer, Pocahontas, IL; his mother, Erna Schaefer, Highland, IL; 2 children, Karen (Tom) Kalous, Pocahontas, IL, Kory (Brandye) Schaefer, Pocahontas, IL; 5 grandchildren, Jed, Lizzie, and Olivia Kalous, Tyler and Ellen Schaefer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schaefer; his brother, Philip Schaefer.

Visitation: Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, May 2, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at United Methodist Church, 108 Moreland, Pocahontas, IL.
Funeral Service: Friday, May 2, 2014, at 11:00 am at United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL.
