    Beverly Leona Harris entered into rest at her home on August 25, 2013, surrounded by her family that loved, cared for and protected her all of her life.  She was 78 years old.

    Beverly was born October 5, 1934 in Mulkeytown, IL to Hiram A. and Opal A. (Nee Wrest) Harris. 

    She lived in Highland all of her life and graduated from Highland High School in 1954.

    She was an avid Cardinals fan, loved to do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, loved attending and was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.  In her younger years she was a 4-H member and assistant 4-H Leader to her mother Opal Harris.  Her greatest joys in life were her 5 nieces and nephews that she helped raise and thought of as her own.

    Beverly is survived by her only brother, Cecil D. Harris and her sister-in-law and best friend Joyce H. Harris; 5 nieces and nephews, Teresa (Ron) McGuire, Tulsa, OK, Robyn (Ram) Cunningham, Highland, IL, Beth (Bobby) Zink, Highland, IL, Lee (Denise) Harris, Crestwood, MO, Nathan (Sarah) Harris, Nashville, IL; great-nieces and nephews, Jacob and Jeremy Zink, Katelyn and Mitch Cunningham, Paige (Bryan) Taylor and Ben Bearden, Macy Harris, Jenna and Trent Harris.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Harris, father, Hiram Harris, Great-nephew, Mason Lee Harris (Infant son of Lee and Denise Harris) and two life-long special family friends, Glen Lewis and Millard Leroy. 

    Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Charity of the donor’s choice.
