    Betty J. McCord, 93, of Cisne passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

    Betty was born August 13, 1929, at Johnsonville, IL to Fred and Blanche (Vaughn) Pond. She married Ralph McCord on September 27, 1947, at Cisne, IL. and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2018.

    Betty was a great homemaker. She was very uplifting and jovial, always with a smile on her face. She loved flowers, cooking and traveling - she loved to see the world. Betty dedicated her life to her family who meant everything to her. She was a member of the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church.

    Betty is survived by two sons, David (Karen) McCord, Waianae, Hawaii, and Robert McCord of Evansville, Indiana.; a sister Joyce Shreve of Cisne, Illinois; three grandchildren Jessica (Brad) Perdue, Devon (Althea) McCord, Lauryn McCord and her fiancé, Patrick Devine; three great grandchildren Raegain, Colton and Sadie; several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, Dwight Pond and Duane Pond, sister Kay Koontz, and brother-in-law Lester Shreve.

    Visitation: Friday, January 27, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 am at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

    Funeral service: Friday, January 27, 2023, at 10:00 am at the funeral home

    Burial: will follow in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.

    Memorials may be given to Blue Point Church or Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. She always had a smile and a kind word for those that she met.
    Always keep the good memories that you have close to your heart. Keeping the family in my prayers. Sorry I will not be able to attend the services for your Mother.
    My Grandma Mae (McCord) Maxey Johnson was Ralph’s fathers twin sister.

    Sorry for the lose of your Mother. She never met a stranger always a bright smile a heart of gold. Aunt Betty loved to hand embroidery one of my fondest memories she taught me how to embroidery & it be as neat on the back as on the front this was before I was 5. I still hand embroidery today that was 70 years ago. Sorry I can’t attend services for Aunt Betty my thoughts and prayers are with her family family and friends.
