    Betty H. Ford, 89, of Highland, IL, formerly of Lebanon, IL, died Sunday, April 11, 2021, at home, surrounded by family.

    Betty was born April 5, 1932 to Albert and Pauline (nee Bell) Hartley in Vincennes, IN. On July 21, 1953, she married William “Bill’ Ford in Springfield, TN.

    Betty’s family settled in Lebanon in 1968 and joined the First United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees.  Her love of Community also showed in her participation in organizations such as PEO Sisterhood Chapter LJ, History Club, Supper Club, Lebanon Women’s Club and Lebanon Library Board, often serving as an officer.

    Betty had a passion for genealogy, dedicating her time in several organizations, most notably, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  She held many offices at the local, state, and national levels, including Illinois State Regent.

    Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Pauline Hartley; husband,  USAF Col. Ret., William “Bill” Ford.

    She is survived by her children, Scott (Debbie) Ford, Punta Gorda, FL, Bryce (Donna) Ford, Vero Beach, FL, Heather (Scott) Abner, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Lauren (Andy) Ward, Travis (Chelsea) Ford, Morgaine (Wren) Workman, Carson Abner, Hartley Abner; great grandchildren, Abby, Phoebe, Sarah, Levi, Cooper, Penny, and Alastair.

    Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lebanon or The Fisher House.

    Visitation: Friday, April 16, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL, and Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at First United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral Service:  Saturday, April 17, 2021, 11:00 am, First United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.

    Interment: Monday, April 19, 2021, 10:15 am, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. She was such a special lady with an incredible loving spirit. I know she will be missed.

    Betty was an exceptional woman and an inspiration to many members of NSDAR! She will be missed. We enjoyed her visits with us State Chapter in Centralia.
