Bertha J. Reidelberger, 103, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Highland.

She was born on February 16, 1920, in Old Ripley, IL, to Wendeline and Caroline (nee Schultz) Schmitt.

Bertha grew up and attended school in Pocahontas, IL. In the early 60’s, she and her family moved to Highland from Pierron, IL. Bertha was a hard worker, employed for 30 plus years as a housekeeper for St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, also cleaning houses on her days off. A faithful woman, Bertha was a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and liked to pray the rosary often.

She enjoyed making quilts and crocheting Afghans, having made many over the years; as well as, painting her nails and doing crossword puzzles. Bertha was strong-willed, independent, and always spoke her mind. A good cook and a good grandma, she will be missed dearly.

Reidelberger; sons, Tom Reidelberger, Terry Reidelberger; grandson, Jeff Reidelberger; siblings, Wendeline Schmitt, Elmer Schmitt, Louie Schmitt, Ed Schmitt, Raymond Schmitt, Earl Schmitt, Lauretta Maynard, Mayrose Schmitt, Myrtle Smith; and three siblings in infancy.

Bertha is survived by her children, Barbara “Barb” (Edward) Kovach, Jeannette (Terry) Zobrist; grandchildren, Matt (Trudy) Kovach, Alan (Kim) Zobrist, Steve (Barb) Zobrist, Lisa Zobrist, Brian “Herbie” (Jené) Zobrist, Scott “Fred” (Robin” Zobrist, Lori (Justin) Whitmore, Jim Reidelberger; great grandchildren, Matt Kovach, Matt (Becca) Zobrist, Chris Zobrist, Anna (Kris) Aldrich, Maya Zobrist, Erin Zobrist, Evan Zobrist, Dylan Reidelberger; great-great grandchildren, Riley Zobrist, Maxine Zobrist, Maeven Zobrist; daughter-in-law, Janet Landstrom; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
