    Bernard LaVerne Grove, 91, of Cisne, IL passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora, IL.

    Bernard was born September 25, 1930, in Cisne, IL to Hubert and Marguerite (Dennis) Grove.  He married Lora Sue Hawk July 15, 1956, at Geff Christian Church at Geff. IL.  She preceded him in death February 28, 2021.

    Bernard was a retired Window Clerk for United States Postal Service at LaSalle, IL.  He was a devoted, caring father and enjoyed gardening and helping people.  He was a three-year Army veteran during the Korean War era serving twenty-three months in Germany.  He was a member of First Christian Church at Fairfield, IL.

    Bernard is survived by one daughter Peggy Sue (Gary) Chronic of Forest Park, Ohio; two sons Charles Eugene (Nancy) Grove of Springfield, IL, and Kenneth Ray (Bea) Grove of Cisne, IL; eight grandchildren David Grove, Alex (Kiersten) Grove, Tracy (Derrick) Stevens, Krystle (Nate) Kellum, Brandon Chronic, Ryan (Kathryn) Grove, Amanda Grove and Sarah Grove; five great grandchildren Ashton and Nolan Grove, Abigale, Rachel, and Nathaniel Stevens; two sisters Joan Sons and Dorothy McCulley both of Fairfield, IL.

    Preceding him in death were his wife Lora Sue, one brother Leland Grove and his parents.

    Visitation:  No Visitation

    Funeral:  2:00pm Friday, March 4, 2022, at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home, Cisne, IL.

    Burial:  Cisne Cemetery.

    Memorials:  Oblong Children’s Christian Home at Oblong, IL and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.
