      Beatrice E. “Betty” Scaglione, 91, of Pocahontas, IL, died Saturday, January 16, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

      Betty was born January 17, 1929 to Jerome and Cletas (Nee Holman) Scaglione, in E. St. Louis, IL.

      She was very active, always doing something.  She never knew a stranger, and really enjoyed being outside working in the yard.  Her fur baby, Tippy, went everywhere with her.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Cletas Scaglione; daughter, Ann Burns; several brothers and sisters.

      Betty is survived by her daughter, Rachel (John) Piquard, Pocahontas, IL; granddaughters, Michelle Bode, Teresa (Eric) Alverez; sister, Katherine Lamzzyk, Edwardsville, IL; several nieces and nephews.

      There are no services scheduled at this time.

      I Will hold a great respect for Betty I e known her since she became Cna back in the eighties and I train her and later in life I had the pleasure of taking care of her in the nursing home I will sadly miss her but I will always cherish the good memories we share and great conversations we talk a bout God bless you Betty and to your family God bless

      I worked with Betty at FCS nursing home in the nineties….A hard worker and a force to be reckoned with…A gruff exterior with a soft heart inside…..Our paths crossed, after several years of not seeing one another…first words out of her mouth….”Boy, you sure have put on some weight!!”…..Brutally honest..extremely out spoken and I just adored her….And last but not least..a true heart of gold…..Rest in Peace my dear friend…

      First time I met Betty she asked me why I hadn’t came down here and married a good Italian girl. Later when she met my wife she told her she was pretty – now i didn’t say beautiful. Very outspoken. We will miss her
