Audrey Sanders, 89, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

She was born on March 3, 1936, in Collinsville, IL, to Bert and Rosa (nee Cuff) Milam. On October 10, 2010, she married Wade Sanders. Audrey worked as a secretary at Eden Village Retirement Center until her own retirement. She was a member of St. John Evangelical UCC and a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Audrey was the heart and soul of her family, a woman whose greatest joy in life was the love she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a source of endless love, wisdom, and warmth, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a comforting hug. Her home was a place of laughter, love, and cherished memories, a place where family always came first.

Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, each carrying forward the lessons of kindness, strength, and compassion that she so beautifully embodied. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit remains in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Rosa Milam; first husband, Shayne Berta; siblings, Shirley Milam, Wayman Milam, Roy Milam, Delores Siegel; mother-in-law, Ramona Berta.

My heart aches to hear of grandma’s passing. She came into my life when I was 13 and immediately filled it with love. She was the kindest person I’ve ever met, with a heart that knew no bounds. I never thought of her as a step-grandma; she was simply my grandma. Her love was unconditional, and I’ll cherish the memories forever. I love you, grandma.

Susie (and family) – I’m so sorry to hear about this. I knew your mom since I was born. She was always so sweet and kind. I nicknamed her ”Betty Crocker” as she always was making something delicious at your home. She was the first person to help me when I fell at your house when I was 7. I was very touched to see her (you and Andrea) at my dad’s memorial. My thoughts are with you and your family.
