Audrey Jean Tait, 95, of Ellery, Illinois passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 16, 1928 in Burnt Prairie, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Hattie (Flynn) Meritt. She married George Tait in 1966, and they enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 2002.

Jean attended the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Albion. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and she really enjoyed being a farm wife.
Jean leaves behind her children, Edward (Patti) Tait, Marjorie (Doug) Jessen, and Bryan Tait. She leaves a legacy of 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 18 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joyce Moore.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Tait; sons David Green and Harold Green; and a brother, Charles Meserole.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois with funeral services at 12:00 p.m. immediately following visitation. Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Albion, Illinois.
