Arlene moved to Owensville, IN in 1967 and has resided at her current home since 1968.  She worked as a waitress, as a dietary aide and as a homemaker. Arlene worked several years as a dental assistant for Marion Warpenburg in Owensville. In 1981 she began her career at PSI (Duke Energy) Power Plant. She worked as a custodian and in the coal yard, retiring after twenty-four years.  Arlene was a member of the First Christian Church in Owensville for over fifty years. She had many wonderful friends and church family. Arlene was dedicated to her Chrisian faith, both in actions and in giving to others. She always enjoyed talking and laughing about sharing stories about extended family and church family’s children too. Arlene had a passion for butterflies and hummingbirds. She loved doing bird carvings with her late husband, Truman Ferguson.

Arlene loved her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. She loved spending time with each and treasured the moments in her heart like a gem. Arlene was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated friend to all that crossed her path and tried emulating Christ’s love here on Earth to all she knew.

Arlene is survived by three sons; son, Keith Buckles and (fiancé Katrina Cerutti), Boonville, IN, step-grandchildren; Amber Jerrigan, Lynnville, IN, Aaron Sturgeon, English, IN as well as six great grandchildren; son Joseph Buckles, granddaughters Allison (Billy) Freese, Katelyn (Quentin) Speir, Madison Buckles and (fiancé Chander Currier). Her family and friends will miss her here in this life with sad hearts but rejoice knowing we will see her again in the next life.

The family would like to acknowledge Minister Bart Newton and his wife Delores, church family members Mona and Danny Taylor and her lifelong friends, Dick and Linda Smith for their special kindness to Arlene.

Arlene was a special lady. She befriended me when we first moved to Owensville over 50 years ago as a young couple with a baby girl. She and I shared keeping each other’s children frequently. Keith, Joe and Derek, you and your families are all in my prayers and will continue to be as you adjust to the loss of your dear Mother.
