Alvin W. Seger Sr., 72, of Collinsville IL, passed away, Friday, January 14, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

He was born September 19, 1949, to Vernon and Mary (nee Johnson) Seger, in Belleville, IL.

Alvin Seger was a builder. Alvin built great things with his hands, thanks to his carpentry skills and wizardry with a tape measure, pencil, and whatever tools it took to tackle big and small jobs alike for anyone in need of his time and talent. More important, Alvin built strong and lasting relationships with his heart, bringing joy to friends, family and even strangers. It didn’t matter to Alvin who needed a joke, a ride home from school or maybe the correct name of the song on the jukebox… or the artist. Alvin was there for everyone, and he was there for everything – barbecues, holiday gatherings, birthday parties and much more. With Alvin, it was always a pool party, whether it was with the family around the back yard pool or signing everyone up for his Super Bowl pool, both always with his two-liter Diet Pepsi and red cup. As an avid coin collector, Alvin was always on the lookout for coins with the birthdates of his loved ones as gifts, to make sure they always knew he was thinking of them. Those coins will be forever priceless, as will be our memories of Alvin.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mary Seger.

Alvin is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Kay Seger; children, Alvin Seger Jr., Michelle (Greorge) Phillips, Frances (Elmer) Peel, Carla (Dave) Bohnenstiehl, Todd (Carol Ann) Vallerius; grandchildren, Brett Phillips, Eric Phillips, Ben Bohede, Amanda Bohede, Scotty McIntire, Adam McIntire, Josh McIntire, Justin McIntire, Lauren Embrey, Brett Vallerius, Paige Vallerius; 10 brothers and sisters, and many great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the National Diabetes Association.
