    Adeline F. Burgess, 80, of Troy, IL, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

    She was born August 29, 1943, in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, to Nazario and Adelaida (nee Castro) Formantes. On July 24, 1970, she married James A. Grant, who passed away June 7, 1997. Then, on March 12, 2005, she married William “Beel” Burgess, who passed away December 18, 2013.

    Adeline was a skilled organist, finding joy and solace in the music she played so beautifully. She had an undeniable flair for fashion. Dressed up in elegant clothes and perfectly applied makeup, Adeline took great joy in getting ready for family gatherings, and holidays, and church. She lit up every room she entered with her radiant presence and impeccable style.

    An active and devoted member of Friedens United Church of Christ (UCC), Adeline’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She contributed tirelessly to her church community, offering her time, talent, and unyielding compassion. Above all else, Adeline treasured her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, particularly her cherished grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader, always ready with a loving word, or a witty comeback. Her quick wit and sharp one-liners were legendary, bringing laughter and joy to family gatherings.

    Adeline’s giving nature and boundless compassion were evident in every aspect of her life. She had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Her legacy of love, kindness, and humor will continue to inspire all. She was a treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

    She is preceded in death by her first loving husband of 26 years, James A. Grant; her second loving husband of 7 years, William “Beel” Burgess; parents, Nazario and Adelaida Formantes; granddaughter, Ally Moore; sisters, Marilyn (Milo) Chevez, Vilma (Don) Diego; son-in-law, Andre Day.

    Adeline is survived by her daughters, Tricia (Matt Brett) Moore, Pamela (Eric) Thaxton, Jennifer Day; step-son, Tim (Lisa) Burgess; granddaughters, Katie Moore, Mariah (Andrew) Leigh, Layla Literski, Jasmine Day; great-granddaughter, Adeline Dawn Leigh; siblings, Rene (Debbie) Formantes, Cielito (Bill) Bumanglag, Grace (Rene) DeLacueva, Marissa (Leo) Suan, Jane (Nonie) Duminquez, Carmen (David) Graupner; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

    Memorials may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, in Troy, IL.

    Visitation: Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Friday, June 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, in Collinsville, IL.

    Service: Friday, June 21, 2024, 10:00 AM, Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

    Clergy: Reverend Tim Harrison, Friedens UCC, Troy IL.

    Interment: Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

    Sorry for your lost Trish.. She was lovely mother and she was loved by your dad a lot .,both of them raised beautiful and caring girls. . She is in heaven and smiling at you..

    I am lost for words. Ms Adeline was the sweetest person and had a heart of gold. Such a beautiful lady and I am going to miss her . I met her and her late husband Bill two love birds she put on h sun shades looking like a movie star all glam up walk holding on to the back of Mr. Bill’s motorized wheelchair leaving the lab together, later on when he passed I had the pleasure of meeting her daughter Jennie and Pam.they would bring her to have her labs . She was a Rare Diamond, we had many conversations on family and she would always talk about her love for her family. I going to truly miss you Adeline
