    John Pietro Provinzano, age 60, departed this life on May 26, 2012, at 1:37 a.m., at his home in Highland, IL, surrounded by loved ones.  John was born on March 14, 1952 in Mattoon, IL to Vito “Vic” and Lucille (Stein) Provinzano.  John married Deborah Bayley on August 6, 1982, who survives.  John was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and prior to his illness had been employed as a respiratory therapist and Director of Ancillary Services at Fayette County Hospital.  John remained a dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs, regardless of the endless teasing he endured while living in Cardinals Country.  He enjoyed traveling, music, golf, baseball, and spending time with friends, children and grandchildren.  John’s humor and kindness left an imprint on everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by those whose lives were touched by him.

     John is survived by his wife, Debbie Provinzano; his children, Tony Provinzano, of Highland, Brooke (Litton) Meritt and husband, Jamie, of Mt. Vernon, Jason Ohley and wife Julie, Mt. Vernon, Alisa (Cunningham) Agee, Vandalia; his parents, Vic and Lucille Provinzano; sister Marilyn Hulskotter, of Indianapolis, brother-in-law, Mike Hulskotter, Indianapolis, sister, Linda Caldwell and husband Rich of Effingham, sister, Cathy David and husband Tom of Mattoon; grandchildren Austen, Levi, Lucas and Sam Ohley, Ethan Morence, Brianna, Ashley, Emma, Sophie, Abby and Delaney Meritt, Amber, Seth, and Jayda Brockett; great-grandchildren, Aubryn Ohley, Kynidee Hug, and Georgia Brockett; and several beloved nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

     Visitation: Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland.

     Funeral: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland.

     Clergy: Deacon Ron Hesson, St. Paul’s Parish

     Interment: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Mattoon, IL.

     Donations may be made in John’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
