Richard Wilson “Rich” Warner, 83, of Highland, IL, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Highland Healthcare Center.

He was born on July 15, 1939, to Edmund Burgess and Lillian Gordon (nee Ulrich) Warner in New Haven, CT.

When Rich was young, his family moved from New Haven to Richmond Heights, MO, where he stayed until he got married. He graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1957, then attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Rich was raised in the Presbyterian church. On June 19, 1976, he married Christine Holthaus at Concordia Lutheran Church in Maplewood, MO, and moved to Highland, IL, where they began their life together. Two years later, they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they remained faithful members.

He was kindhearted, a great listener, and an overall sweet guy. Rich had an avid thirst for knowledge and an active awareness of current events. While his physical limitations were a large obstacle in his daily activities, he managed to minimize the impact of his limitations on his family and lived his life to the fullest. His primary profession was a proofreader at a type setting company, and had other adventures in sales, food service and retail.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund B. Warner and Lillian G. Winkler; stepfather, Frank Andrew Winkler; and brother, John Kendrick Warner.

Rich is survived by his wife, Christine Warner, Maryville, IL; children, John Andrew Warner, Oakland, CA, Sarah (Steven) Fort, Woodbridge, VA, Phillip (Tiffany) Warner, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Vanessa Warner, Emma Warner, Cameron Wylie, Henley Warner, Tiffany Fort, Joel Fort; great grandchildren, Leyanna George and Elijah George.

Memorials may be made to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
