      Richard James Jurcich Sr., 74, of Maryville, IL, passed away, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at his home in Maryville, IL.

      Richard was born August 8, 1947, to Emil and Lucille Jurcich, in East St. Louis, IL.

      Richard was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving as a radar operator during the Vietnam War. Richard was a movie enthusiast; he had an extensive collection of VHS tapes that he recorded himself, mainly consisting of comedies, especially The Three Stooges. He also loved to play pool; belonging to a pool league in his earlier years. At home, Richard loved to watch baseball, and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Those who knew Richard best would describe him as hard-headed, a little stubborn, but overall, a good man.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lucille Jurcich; son, Joshua Jurcich; sister, Marylou Mertz.

      Richard is survived by his children, Chad (Tanya) Jurcich, Daniel Jurcich, Kyle Jurcich, Richard James Jurcich Jr., Jacob (Eunice) Jurcich; grandchildren, Josiah, Mark, Kasie, David, Christopher, and Mary; brother, Samuel Jurcich.

      Memorials may be made to the family.

      Graveside Service: Friday, June 3, 2022 at 12:30 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

      Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

      Richard was a great childhood friend, growing up in ESL.
      He was a great person always. Our friendship never ended to this this day. He was one hell of a pool shooter, like his dad.RIP my friend. Greg
