Charles M. Shinn, 91, of Clovis, CA., passed away on November 8, 2021.

Charles was born on November 10, 1929 in Moroa, IL, to Franklin and Viola (nee Traub) Shinn.

He grew up in Pocahontas, IL, one of six children.  Charles moved to East St. Louis, IL and at age 17, worked for Obear-Nester Glass Company as a Foreman. He later met the love of his life, Kathryn Durham. They married on Feb. 12, 1949. Charles and Kathryn had three children, Charles Ray, Cathy and Darren. In September 1971, Charles was transferred to Madera Glass Company as a Supervisor in California. There he raised his youngest son, Darren.  He retired in March 1996.

He refurbished Model A cars and Ford Mustangs for many years.  Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Dylan, his grandson.  He was a light-hearted soul who loved to talk and could find humor in all life experiences. He will always be remembered as a kind, fun, affectionate, and loving husband, father and grandfather.  His hugs, kisses, winks and smiles will be missed.  He will remain in our hearts forever; may the Lord bless him and may he rest in peace.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maurice Shinn and Carl Shinn; two sisters, Bonnie Mayberry and Shelby Shinn.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Kathryn whom he lovingly called “Cookie”; three children, Charles Ray (Cheryl Yarber) Shinn, Belleville, IL, Cathy M. (Clyde) Dumstorff, Troy, IL., Darren (Jeanine) Shinn, Clovis, CA.; one brother, Jack L. (Rosalie) Shinn, Collinsville, IL.; four grandchildren, Lisa J. (Craig) Stoner, Kelly R. (Ray) Wilson, Jamie M.
