      Alma Doris Stanhope, 94, of Albion, IL, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at her home with her daughter by her side.

      Alma was born Oct. 7, 1926, to Albert and Beulah (Winter) Sailer, in Carmi, IL.  On Aug. 4, 1951, she married Carroll Albert Stanhope, at First Methodist Church, Carmi, IL.

      She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Albion, IL, where she sang in the Choir and played piano since 1951.

      Alma loved her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her.  She loved to read and spend time in her flower garden.  She enjoyed cooking and was still helping in the kitchen anytime her daughter would cook.  Alma was a member of the Albion Public Library Board and served as its Treasurer for many years.  She was a member of Delta Philanthropic Sorority.  During her working career she worked as an Executive Secretary for Superintendent of Schools in Edwards County, Albion Grade School, County Treasurers Office, White County Farm Bureau, ASCS Office in Albion and she was Memorial Chairman for American Cancer Society, Edwards County.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Beulah Sailer; husband, Carroll Stanhope; Infant son, Greg Albert Stanhope; brothers, Glenn Sailer, Wayne Sailer; sister, Lola Elliott; brother-in-law, John Elliott; sister-in-law, Helen Sailer.

      Alma is survived by her children, Kay Stanhope, Kent (Gena) Stanhope, Kris (Natalie) Stanhope; grandchildren, Sydney (Nick) Gracyalny, Emma Garcia, Ean Stanhope, Lydia Stanhope, great-grandchildren, Sophie Garcia, Maggie Garcia, Gideon Gracyalny, Emmett Gracyalny; brother, Allen Sailer; sisters-in-law, Betty Sailer, Mary Sailer.

      Memorials may be made to Albion Public Library.

      Graveside Service: Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at 11:00 am at Graceland Cemetery, Albion, IL.

      Clergy: Rev. Mike Elliott.

      Ingram Meridith Funeral Home, Albion, IL.
