Margie Ann Orr was the first of 6 children born to Verl and Aileen Wirth Doty..

Born in Wabash County, Illinois in 1936, Margie was later joined by, Janice & Delores, Scharlene and then Danny and Nancy..Now survived by only 3 sisters..Janice Deisher(Robert), Scharlene Fewkes(Kenneth) and Nancy Verardi (Gary)...

The family moved to Bone Gap, and bought, for their very own, a little 4 room house..It was filled with love, faith and struggle but was perfect for them..

She attended Bone Gap Grade school, and Edwards County High school graduating in 1954...as a straight A student..

She then advanced her studies and compassion for others to The

Protestant Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing graduating in the class of 1957...

In April of 1958 she married Paul G. Orr..in Olney, Illinois..Paul and Margie had 3 children..Terri(Chuck) and

      Tim(Nicky) who survive..and

Lori (lost to cancer in 2008)...

      She loved her Grandchildren:

      Cole(Kara)

      Kyle(Stacey)

      Rachel(Tyson)

      Kate(Sam)

      Clare(Matt)

      Alex

      Jenni(Byron)

      Lillie

      And Great Grandchildren

      Kenley

      Ava

      Banks

      Matalynn

      Aubrey

      Lyla

      Sailor

      Lorilei

      Parker

      Ariyana

      Jaxon

And Juston with her whole heart...

Margie worked in her chosen profession helping others her entire life..

      First at..

      Wabash General Hospital

Then after moving to central Illinois,

      The Haven Nursing Home

      Cumberland Nursing and Rehab..

And then, Rest Haven Manor..after the family returned to Albion..

She served as a Nursing Instructor at Wabash Valley College...

And finally helping the people of Edwards County as the

Assistant Edward's County Health nurse and..

Edward's County TB & Health nurse..until her retirement..

Margie fervently loved God, loved her family and loved humanity..

She was a strong..and brave Proverbs 31 woman...who knew cancer survival, heartache and loss, but wore her scars with dignity and grace...

She loved her parents, brother and sisters, husband and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was there whenever they called... There were always Aunts, Uncles and cousins around.. Family was extremely important to her..

She loved to laugh and have fun.. as fellow employees, quilting club sisters and the bowling girls.. knew all too well..

And reading to her kids and grandkids and studying her bible every night..were absolutely necessary..

Surely many of us were rewarded in some way or spared from accident or pain, because of her fervent prayers..

She could make a lard pie crust with the best of them.. and never measure a single ingredient..

She was a seamstress, quilter, tatter and embroiderer and many have mementos with her stitches of love within them..

In times of joy or heartache.. she always sang as she went about her work or weathered a storm.. It was never unusual to hear a heartfelt.. “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” coming from her lips.. at the kitchen sink.. charting Dr’s orders .. or rocking a grandchild to sleep..

She loved genealogy and family history.. and spent many hours researching and helping other as well, uncover their family roots.

She served on the board of the Edwards County Area Agency on Aging…

She was a member of the Edwards County Historical Society and DAR member..

A league bowler, she loved to laugh and enjoy the company of her friends..

And then there’s the dressing up for Halloween fun!

Margie knew the secret to public service and sharing the love of God.. She validated every single person she came in contact with.. and made them feel needed.. in the very world that was often unkind to them.. Everyone was important.. Everyone!.. No one fell through the cracks with her.. She told it straight, when she needed to, and lovingly wrapped you into her graces afterward..

She was an intelligent, but modest.. caring person..Helping anyone she could…No matter who they were..

Common sense and Christianity ruled her days… and the teaching of her children as well..

Margie was a faithful member of the Church of Christ…

Never backing down from right…She lived a humble and simple life of faith and obedience and has won that sought after crown of life…that she also longs for you to gain someday as well..

Our Hearts are broken, but also joyous..for after almost 85 years of serving God, others…and loving us all so well…she will now hear, those precious words…”Well done…”

We will be forever thankful for the glorious gifts you taught us… and grateful for your precious presence in our lives..Rest well in that sweet bye and bye..We shall see you soon..

      And love you forevermore…xoxoxo

Although I knew Margie to be mother, wife and grandmother, I will always think of her first as a nurse. She pricked me many times over the years as an annual TB test was at one time a requirement for my job. I always trusted Margie’s nursing abilities. Mary Ruth and I always knew we could count on her for any needs or inquiries we had in regards to our work at Little Prairie Preschool during her time working at the EC Health office. So glad she put her trust in Jesus! Stan and I are thinking and praying for you all at this time. Love the picture of cross and Bible!
