Marian Kay Shreve (Kay), 69, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away peacefully August 6, 2021. Kay was born December 8, 1951, in Flora, Illinois to Orton and Milderene Cooper. She attended school in Cisne before marrying Donnie Shreve of Johnsonville, Illinois in June 1968. While raising a family, Kay continued striving for higher education and earned certification in Statistical Process Control Engineering, which ultimately allowed her to work for Tenneco Automotive for many years and travel the world. Kay has been in 49 of the 50 states (missed Hawaii) and on all but one of the Continents. (missed Antarctica-she was glad about that one!) She was a member of the Cozad Christian Church at Cozad Neberska.
Kay was extremely proud of her family and always remembered the special dates. For years, Kay hosted the family Thanksgiving dinner until she was physically unable to continue.
Kay loved to play and listen to music, particularly the southern gospel genre. Her love of music, traveling, and the Southern Gospel Music family solidified her love for her Savior and brought her an enormous circle of friends that will miss their “Sweet Mama Kay.”
Kay is survived by her brother, Clarence Cooper and wife, Sherrel of Cisne, Illinois, her sister, Annie Hassinger of Decatur, Illinois, a son Gary and his wife Angela, four grandchildren Maya and Troy Iske, Craig and Cherry Allen, Lani Allen, Colton Bryce, two great grandchildren, Liam and Nora Allen, and a third grandbaby due any minute now. Kay is also survived by a family friend, Eunice Spradlin. Kay has numerous Nieces and Nephews. She loved them all. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kathy Allen and her brother, Warren Cooper.
Visitation will be held Friday morning, August 13, 2021 from 9:00-11:00am, service to follow at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Cisne, IL 62823. Following the service, burial will be at Gunion Christian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
