Dale H. Haberer, 79 of Pocahontas, IL died August 13, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. He was born in Millersburg, IL on May 12, 1928 to Harry and Sophia (Seiver) Haberer and they are both deceased. On August 19, 1950 he married Jacquelene Zimmermann at St. Nicholas Church, Pocahontas, IL and she survives.
Also survived by - three sons and one daughter - Larry Haberer, Crawfordsville, TN; Joe Haberer - Highland, IL; John (Angie) Haberer - Pocahontas, IL and Robin (Charlie) Elliott - Pocahontas, IL; six grandchildren - Adam (Angie) Elliott - Richmnd, VA; Elise and Hannah Elliott - Pocahontas; Jay, Jared, Allyson Haberer, Pocahontas; one sister - Bernice (Ed) Kovach, Pocahontas; one brother - Maurice (Linda) Haberer - Millersburg, IL and one sister-in-law -Dorothy Haberer - Pocahontas, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Haberer is also preceded in death by four children - Kathy, Peggy, Mark and Thomas; one brother - Norbert "Spike" Haberer and one sister-in-law - Sally Haberer.
He was a veteran serving in the Naval Air Corps for two years; He worked as a barber in his early years, then worked many years as a laborer in Local 100 retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Pocahontas; the Laborers Local 100; Trustee of the Village of Pocahontas 14 years; served on the Bond County Board of Supervisors 13 years - serving as President 3 years; Burgess Twp Supervisor 24 years; and a Charter Member of Bond County Housing Authority.
Visitation: Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at May Funeral Home, Pocahontas, and Friday, August 17th from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 @ St. Nicholas Church, Pocahontas with Fr. Carlos Bohorquez officiating.
Interment: Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL
Memorials may be offered to: Greenville High School Athletic Fund or for Masses.
