    Wilma L. Waters, age 86 of Ellery, IL passed from this life to the next on March 8, 2021 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion, IL.

    Wilma was born on December 7, 1934 in Lawrenceville, IL to Wendell  A. and Olive L. (Shaw) Warren.  She married Lloyd Waters on September 22, 1954 in Tacoma, WA.

    Wilma was a farm wife who worked right alongside Lloyd; she drove tractors and trucks and helped with livestock.  She was also a 4-H leader of the Little Prairie Pardners.   She was the last surviving member of the Progressive Women’s Club.  Once her children were raised, Wilma also worked as a cook in the nursing home and worked in a daycare.  Raising a big garden for canning and flowers was an annual event in her life, and Wilma enjoyed taking her entries to the Edwards County Fair.   She was a member of the Ellery Christian Church.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl “Bud” Warren.

    She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Waters of Albion,  one daughter, Janet (Burl) Pettigrew of Ellery, IL, four sons:  Kenneth Waters of Nashville, TN, Carl (Patricia) Waters of Ellery, IL, Ronald Waters of Las Vegas, NV and Steven (Tina) Waters of Flora, IL, three grandchildren:   Amy May, Crystal (Nathan) Gabbard and Dakota (Jenny) Pettigrew, great-grandchildren:  Grace, Makayla, Abigail and Grant,  5 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

    A visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from Noon to 2PM at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, IL.  Due to restrictions,  30 guests at a time will be allowed in the building to pay their respects and greet the family.

    Funeral service will be held at 2PM at the funeral home; with a total of 50 family members and guests.  Those who wish to pay their respects and attend the graveside committal, may do so at the Little Prairie Cemetery, west and north of Albion,  following the 2PM service.

    Memorials are encouraged to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and the Edwards County Senior Citizens.

    Having known Wilma, I realize that this world has one less wonderful thing in it. She was always very welcoming and kind. Oh, and what a great cook! Please accept my sincere and heartfelt sympathies over your loss.

    Janet, Teresa mentioned the delicious desserts Wilma used to make when we met for Bible study so many years ago.
