      Norma Jean Elmore, 76, of Johnsonville, Illinois passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home.

      Norma Jean was born August 21, 1944, to Clarence and Irene (Niendick) Meyer and was raised in Jasper County, Illinois on her parents’ farm. She married Loren Elmore November 11, 1961 at Dieterich, Illinois and he survives.

      Norma Jean was a farmer and cook. She retired in 2012 from Heritage Woods at Flora, Illinois.

      Norma Jean is survived by her husband, Loren Elmore of Johnsonville, Illinois; two daughters Nila (Ted, Jr.) Hughes and June Elmore both of Cisne, Illinois; one sister Marie (Don) Sandschafer of Teutopolis, Illinois; one brother Eugene (Marie) Meyer of Dieterich, Illinois, and one sister-in-law Marlene Meyer of Dieterich, Illinois. She is also survived by grandsons, Travis (Jessica) Hughes of Johnsonville, Illinois and Conner Peach of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; granddaughters Lauren Hughes and Ryan Peach both of Cisne, Illinois, and two great grandchildren Luke Hughes and Rylie Backes both of Johnsonville, Illinois.

      Preceding her in death were her parents, son, John Elmore, and brother, Gerald Meyer.

      There will be a private family service at 2:00pm Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Brush Creek Community of Christ Church in Zenith, Illinois. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. Please follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and wearing a face mask.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Brush Creek Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the church and Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

      I was stunned to read on WFIW the news of our Norma Jean. She was such a sweetheart and true friend. God gained an angel while we shall savor her memories. Her kindness and true friendship will be cherished. Love to you all.
