      Charles T. Pelo, 77, of Edwardsville IL, died Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO.

      He was born, April 25, 1943, in Granite City, IL, the son of Willard and Clara (Tottleben) Pelo. He married Patricia Prosser on May 30, 1964 in Hartford.

      Charles was a second-generation Union Ironworker for Local 392 in East St. Louis for over 30 years. He was a recovered alcoholic who was sober for 46 years and participated in many local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and organizations. Through the program, he helped numerous fellow alcoholics get and stay sober over the years.

      Charles is survived by his son, Chuck (Chi) Pelo, Staunton, IL; step-son, Brian (Rebecca) Lane, Pensacola, FL; step-daughter, Annetta (John) Veres, Cape Coral, FL; sister, Margaret Womble, Belleville, IL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Pelo; parents, Willard and Clara Pelo; brother, Bill Pelo.

      Charles' wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held.

      So sorry to hear of Chucks passing. We carpooled and worked on a job years ago at the Coffeen power plant. Really great guy to be around.
