Kenneth Earl Reid, age 72 of Albion, IL passed from this life to the next on December 30, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville, IN following a long and difficult battle with Covid-19 virus.
Kenneth was born on March 24, 1948 in Olney, IL to Earl M. and Lucille (Cowling) Reid.
Immediately following high school graduation, he served his country during the Vietnam War. Following the war, he became an employee of the US Government, in Civil Service, retiring after approximately 45 years.
Kenneth was a lover of antiques, and after living on the east coast for years, had recently returned to his roots and was in the process of creating a unique space for shoppers looking for “the unusual piece”, on the Albion square. He truly had an eye for design and knew collectables, antiques and “uniques”; including the oversize frog that caught the eye of those passing by his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clyde Reid and his life partner, Robert Hamilton.
Left with so many great memories and stories, are his sisters Marilyn (John) Shelby and Glenna (Rex) Bunting. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date, with inurnment to follow at West Village Cemetery.
The family encourages memorials be given to the donors’ favorite charity or do a kindness in his memory, by paying it forward.
