Marilyn Woods, age 92 of Albion, IL passed from this life to the next on December 14, 2020 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN.
Marilyn was born on August 8, 1928 in Albion to Clarence Victor and Nena Katherine (Ramsey) Horton. On December 12, 1964, she married Otho Woods, and they enjoyed over 20 years together, before his passing on September 5, 1984.
She enjoyed a variety of interesting positions during her years of employment, beginning right out of high school. Her mother, Nena was contacted by the then-President of Citizens National Bank of Albion, requesting that Marilyn come to work. Her next place of employment was secretary to her father, who was the county clerk at that time. Later, Marilyn became the Albion Grade School Librarian. Another job materialized when The American Red Cross invited her to manage their Red Cross Office in Albion; where there was a Red Cross telephone in both the office at the county courthouse, as well as in her home.
She later enjoyed working for the Edwards County Senior Center in Browns, IL.
Her most important “job” however, was being a homemaker, who enjoyed a simple life, being a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Donna Stewart, two brothers, Victor and Troy Horton and an infant daughter.
She leaves many wonderful, fun and funny memories to be cherished by her daughter, Lora (and husband Gerald) Medler, grandson Jedidiah (and wife Dorie) Medler and great-grandson, Josiah.
Marilyn has been laid to rest in a private service, but her memory will last forever.
Memorials may be given to the Edwards County Senior Citizens Center.
