      Richard Keith Short age 68 of Ellery, IL passed from this life to the next on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL.

      He was born on August 18, 1952 to Vernice and Thelma (Reid) Short in Albion, IL.  He married Mary Mabrey on June 19, 1973 in Olney IL.

      Richard served six and a half years in the US Army as a wrecker operator. He spent 11 months in Vietnam.

      His passion was woodworking and he liked to fish and hunt in his earlier years.

      He is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter Mesha (John) Novotny of Mattoon, IL and one son Gregory S. (Amy) Short of Galatia IL, 6 grandchildren: Bethany Summerfield, Caitlynn (Cherokee) Metcalf , Jakeob Summerfield, Kassie (Makay) Cagle, Amber Short, Hailey (Grayson)Woolard  and 2 great grandchildren: Emily Cagle, Jaimee Cagle and a third grandchild Elliot Brady on the way.

      Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenneth and Russell.

      In accordance with Richard’s wishes cremation services have been performed and a service will be held at a later date.
