Lora Irene Thompson Hilliard, 93, stepped into the presence of Jesus, her Savior, on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Born April 8, 1927, in Springfield, IL, she was a former resident of Cisne, Illinois and a long-time resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Irene was the youngest daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Holtzclaw Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Willie, son, Coy, daughter-in-law, Marie, granddaughter, Crystal, four brothers, and two sisters.
Irene is survived by two sons, Jimmie Hilliard and wife, Nellie, and Joseph Hilliard and wife, Katherine; daughter-in-law, Vickie Hilliard; grandchildren, Joey Hilliard, Cindy Eller, Wendy Gerhart and husband, Bob, Michael Hilliard and wife, Jennifer, Angela Canterbury, Bill Hilliard and wife, Ariel, Teresa Hueg and husband, Tom, Sarah Hilliard, Grace Hilliard, and Landon Hilliard; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. As a homemaker, Irene enjoyed cooking, best known for her homemade chicken and noodles and for her coconut cream pies, gardening, quilting and spending time with her loving family. She was faithful to her Lord through her many years of service as a bus captain, nursery worker, kitchen assistant and choir member in her church.
Services will be held at 11 am, with calling hours one hour prior to the service, at Providence General Baptist Church in Johnsonville, IL, Saturday, October 24, 2020. Burial will be at the Cisne Cemetery with arrangements by Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home of Cisne.
Those attending are asked to wear masks and the number of attendees is limited to 30. Arrangements in High Point by Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
