Kathy A., Michaelis, 66, of Highland, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at her home.
Kathy was born, April 6, 1954, to Edward and Irene (nee Hediger) Wegman at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
Kathy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Highland.
Kathy loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed board games, puzzles, cards and word finds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching game shows. In her early years, she worked at Clean Uniform in Highland and Owen-Brockway in Vandalia; and in her last job, she faithfully cared for the elderly. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1998, with the last ten years gradually becoming more difficult. She was loved by her family, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Angie (Terry) Heise, Springfield, IL, Amy (Devin) Watts, Troy, IL, and Andrea Michaelis, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Payton, Jaxson, & Easton Heise, Drew, Katie & Trent Watts, Camden & Aiden Michaelis; brothers and sisters, Bruce (Becky ) Wegman, Trenton, IL, Danny Wegman, Pocahontas, IL, Pat (Rich) Koonce, Greenville, IL, Linda Schleper, Millersburg, IL; former husband, Joe Michaelis, Highland, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene Wegman; brothers, Kenny Wegman, Edward Britt and Jim Wegman; sister, Nancy Wegman; and brother-in-law, Jerome Schleper.
Memorials may be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, Highland Area Christian Service Ministry or Jamestown Cemetery.
