John C. Carter, 70, of Pocahontas, IL, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
John was born November 29, 1941 to Vallee Earldean and Eugenia Elva (nee Worstall) Carter, in Pleasant Mound, IL. On June 8, 1968, he married Carolyn K. Brown at Assembly of God Church, Pocahontas, IL.
He worked at B-Line Systems, now Cooper-B-Line, Highland, IL for 40 years as a painter and machine operator. In later years he formed Carter and Sons Roofing and Siding Co. He was a member of Machinist Local #9.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kay Carter, Pocahontas, IL; 8 children, John (Rena) Carter, Highland, Robin Beam, Pryor, OK, Mary Foltz, Centralia, IL, Barbara Rickert, Greenville, Karen Willmont, St. Jacob, Roger (Katie) Carter, Staunton, Paula (Jason) Brooks, Highland, Patrick Carter, Highland; 25 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 8 brothers and sisters, Joyce Carey, Pocahontas, Deloris (Bud) Rommerskirchen, Highland, Robert (Mary) Carter, Pocahontas, Linda (C.R.) Lee, Troy, Virginia (Randy) Obermark, Pocahontas, Leonard (Tina) Morrow, Edgar Springs, MO, Dianna Carter, Mulberry Grove, Vallee Carter, Jr., Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Roger Carter, David Carter.
