    Shirley A. Burlingame, nee Howell, 71, of Pocahontas, IL died February 2, 2010 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.   She was born February 18, 1938 to John David and Myrtle Inez (nee Carroll) Howell at Collinsville, IL.  Both deceased.   She married James Burlingame, June 29, 1957 at the First Baptist Church, Collinsville, and he preceded her in death, September 17, 2009.

    Survivors include two sons, two daughters:, Curtis Burlingame, Pocahontas, IL; Denise Lorenz, Highland, Jamie Burlingame, Olney, IL; Timothy "Tim" (Amy) Burlingame, Highland, IL; six grandchildren - Amy Lorenz, James (Peggy) Lame, Michelle Lorenz, Robert Peregrin, Calli Jo Burlingame, Jonathon Burlingame; one great grandchild - Landen Lorenz; one sister - Carolyn, Bub, Collinsville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and three sisters.

    Shirley enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the wild animals, especially the humming birds.  She began her nursing career as a "Candy Striper" in E. St. Louis at the age of 17, and worked her way through school to become an LPN and started working  at Anderson Hospital when they opened their doors and retired from there in 2002 after 26 years of devoted, dedicated care.

    VISITATION:  Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

    MEMORIAL SERVICE:  Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Church at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Trover, Pastor, officiating.   Burial in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL.

    MEMORIALS:  May be offered to the First United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL
