      Private Graveside Service  Will Be Held

      Velma M. Brown, age 85, formerly of Allendale, IL passed from this life to the next on May 16, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital, Mt. Carmel, IL.
      Velma was born on August 5, 1934 in Edwards County, IL to Joseph Oscar and Zelda Blanch (Rodgers) Bowman.
      Velma married Harold Brown on February 27, 1954 at the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Mt. Carmel and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1989.
      She was also preceded in death by her parents and five sisters: Daphene, Martha Grace, Darlene, Rosy and Beulah.
      Velma was a caring mother and grandmother. She put others first before herself.
      When she was able, she used to visit the shut-ins and those in the nursing homes. In her younger days, she did a lot of canning. She also liked to crochet, knit and sew for others.
      She was a good Christian lady with a compassionate heart.
      Velma leaves many memories to cherish for her children, which includes: Debbie (David) Cogdill of Allendale, IL, Camilla (Bill) Cogdill of St. Francisville, IL, Dennis (Lisa) Brown of St. Francisville, Brian (Marsha) Brown of Mt. Carmel, Glen (Venessa) Brown of Mt. Carmel, IL,
      Greg (Vera) Brown of St. Francisville, Brad Brown of Mt. Carmel and Lavinia (Wayne) Cornwell of Allendale, 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great child.
      Due to the Covid-19 state mandated restrictions in place, a private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the Allendale Cemetery, where Velma will be laid to rest next to Harold.
      Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Allendale and may be mailed to Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home 241 West Main St. Albion, IL 62806.
      Condolences for the family are encouraged, especially during these trying times and may be left for them on the funeral home website www.meridithfuneralhome.com

      What a Great woman of God. She will be missed.
      Such a beautiful family left to remember her.
      She was always good to me and wrote encouraging scriptures to many of us.

      Sorry to hear of Velma’s passing. She & Darlene and I were in the same age group growing up in Albion together. Back in the good ole days.

      WE MISS OUR MOTHER SOOOO MUCH. SHE WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A GODLY WOMAN& SHARED BIBLE VERSES WITH EVERYONE. THE ONE THAT I REMEMBER THE MOST WAS NUMBERS 6:24-26. WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS MOMMA! FROM: GLEN & WIFE VENESSA BROWN
