      MAXINE BURROUGHS, 80, of Cisne, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora, Illinois.

      Maxine was born November 30, 1938 at Olney, Illinois to Albert and Gladys (Taylor) Travis. She married Marlin Burroughs in 1959 at Flora, Illinois and he survives.

      Maxine was a medical receptionist for dentist Dr. DeSelms in Flora, Illinois and for Chiropractor Dr. Teeter in St. Louis area and loved to play golf. She was a member and treasurer of the Pleasant Hill “Brick” Baptist Church near Mt. Erie, Illinois. She and her husband owned Burroughs Gun Shop in Cisne, Illinois for fourteen years.

      Maxine is survived by her husband Marlin Burroughs of Cisne, Illinois; one son Douglas M. Burroughs of Tallahassee, Florida and one sister Marie Travis of Clay City, Illinois. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

      Preceding her in death were her parents and one son Jeffrey Burroughs.

      There will be no services.

      We are so sorry for your loss. We visited with Maxine few time at the nursing home while visiting mom. I remember meeting her, for the first time, many many years ago at Western Auto. Please accept our heart felt condolences.

      So very sorry for your loss. It has always meant so much to me and to Jennifer that Maxine was so kind and loving towards Jennifer. She was an amazing grandmother, and you’ve been a dear grandpa to Jennifer too, and to Emma Jane. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
