Jay D. Ashford,77, of Highland, IL, died Friday, July 16, 2010. She was born in E. St. Louis, IL, on July 22, 1932, to Matthew and Adelaide (Nee Adams) Smith. On July 22, 1950 she married John Ashford.
Jay loved to garden, and liked the St. Louis Cardinals, especially Yadier Molina.
She is survived by one Daughter, Jill (Ernie) Hogan, Talking Rock, GA; one Son, Jim (Laurie) Ashford, Highland, IL; one Daughter-in-Law, Connie Ashford, Greenville, IL; seven Grandchildren, Steve, Dan, Jason, Melissa, Jamie, Tara, and Michael; three Great Grandchildren, Titus, Levi, and Reed; one Sister, Gloria Jellen, Edwardsville, IL; Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one Son, Jack “Lee” Ashford; one Sister, Minerva “Babe” Thomas.
Visitation: 4 – 8 pm, Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL, and from 8 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11:00 am, Monday, July 19, 2010, at Meridith Funeral Home.
