  • Full Obituary

Freddie Joe Deadmond, age 75, formerly of Allendale, IL passed from this life to the next at Deaconess-Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN on April 8, 2019.

Fred was born in Salem, IL on January 12, 1944 to Joseph and Ilona (Vore) Deadmond. He grew up in Gibson County, Indiana and graduated from Mt Olympus High School. He went on to receive his degree in education from Oakland City University and taught at the Allendale High School for several years. After an early retirement, Fred stayed busy with a plethora of responsibilities and interests.

Fred worked at the Allendale Post Office and also faithfully delivered the Courier Press newspaper for years. He was the groundskeeper for the Allendale Cemetery for over 40 years; a job he took seriously, and the effort was evident to all who visited the cemetery.

He served as the Mayor of Allendale from 1993 to 2009. Fred was also an active member of the Allendale Ruritan Club and was presented with his 50-year pin at a dinner and ceremony that took place in March. He was a Shriner, member of the Scottish Rite, and Allendale Fire Department and was a proud member of the First Christian Church of Allendale and lived his beliefs beyond the walls of the church; resulting in many people being encouraged and uplifted by a kind word or deed from Fred.

Fred could often be found at the local gas station/restaurant visiting with friends and strangers; who usually became his friend. “Mr. Allendale” has moved to the eternal home he mentioned quite often, and Allendale won’t be the same.

His wit, intelligence, and humor will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cheryl Heiple.

He is survived by his niece, Kelly (Glen) Gill of Evansville, IN, nephew, Mark (Jyoti) Heiple of Louisville, KY, and great-nieces: Candice, Grace, Faith, Kareena and Maya. Fred will also be missed by many friends and former students.

A visitation will be held from 3PM to 5PM on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Allendale, IL. A Celebration of a Life Well-Lived was take place at 5PM at the funeral home and burial will follow at the Allendale Cemetery.
