Phyllis “Phid” Gail Brines, 71, of Albion, IL, passed from this life to the next on January 15, 2019 at the rural Albion home of her niece.

She was born January 24, 1947 near Keenesburg, IL to Sylvia (Waddle) and Elmer Webb.

Phid gave her whole heart to the Lord at the age of thirteen. She was a member of the Bone Gap Christian Church where she taught a children’s Sunday school class and a youth group class. It was one of her greatest joys in life to lead someone to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Phid was a prayer warrior with an enormous burden for the lost. She loved people and they loved her. She was one of God’s great servants.

Phid was a Rural Letter Carrier for 25 years.  She had lived in Murray, KY for many years where she started her mail carrying career.

She is survived by her God-daughter, Veronica (Jason) Jones and her two children, Bo and Kaleb of Benton, KY; one sister, Jo Rector of Albion; one brother, Jack (Kathy) Webb of Albion; and nieces and nephews: Sylvia (Brad) Beadles of Ellery, IL, Carol Jo (Toby) Beadles of Albion, Nancy Jane Spillman of Newburgh, IN, Jason (Jalyn) Webb of Albion, Jared (Stacie) Webb of Belleville, IL; and Katie (Doug) Hinderliter of Albion; and five great-nephews and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law Bernice Brines.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at West Village Cemetery.

Sending our love and prayers to Phyllis’s family. She was a precious friend who served Christ with us at Christian Community Church in Murray, Kentucky, for many years. She never shied away from hard work and always gave her all. We enjoyed her annual visits to Murray in recent years, and will miss her smile and hugs. But we know we will see her again one day.

Our sincere condolences to the family of Phyllis. I first got to know her when we moved to the country and she would go by everyday to feed her horses at a neighbors property. She would stop when I was walking and we would share a few words , mainly about her horses that she loved so much! She always had a smile and a kind word. She will be missed! Heaven gained a lovely angel!

Our hearts are heavy but we rejoice that Phyllis has completed her journey and is with her Lord who she loved most. In 1972 when we first met her through the Wildlife Society at Murray State we became friends. Randy and I have many wonderful memories of the times we shared. It was only a couple of weeks ago we talked to her and she, even though weak was planning a visit. That was Phyllis, always thinking of others and never putting herself first. We will see you again someday and will always remember your sweet spirit . Randy & Mary Lowe

Phyllis was one of the first neighbors I met after moving to Panorama Shores, just outside Murray, KY. She was so good to stop by after work, just to see if I needed anything. I remember my first crisis with 2 small sons, one barely walking. She helped me sort out the problem and left with a smile on her face. I was smiling, too, as she said “ya win a few and lose a few.” I have never forgotten how calm she was. Her presence turned what I thought was a calamity into “just one of those life things that happen.” (As I recall, I was trying to figure out how to salvage burned stew, while keeping my sons from harming each other.) I hadn’t seen Phyllis in years and then one day, a few months after my husband passed in 2012, she appeared at my door. We had a great visit and her quiet, but powerful faith was just what I needed. I am still stunned that she sent her annual Christmas card, including yearly updates, just weeks before she went to be with God. Her letter was an inspiration at the time, which I expected, but now, I will keep it always, to remind myself that dying is indeed beautiful when we know where we are going. I thank God for Phyllis, her wisdom, faith and friendship.
