    James G. “Jack” Misegades Jr., 81, of rural Marine, Brier Bank Farm, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, in Maryville, IL.

    Jack was born December 4, 1937 to James G. and Elizabeth E. (nee Harding) Misegades, Sr. in St. Louis, MO.  On May 21, 1955 he married Nancy L. Neel in Vandalia, IL.

    Jack resided in East St. Louis as a child and graduated from High School there. He attended Rankin Technical School in St. Louis.  Jack worked as an electrical contractor for Misegades Electric.  He opened a general contracting business in Marine after relocating there with his family in 1963.  Jack enjoyed working on large building projects and engineering designs that were novel and creative.  His passion was for sailing, especially at Lake Erie and Lake Michigan.  He won a Regatta race at Carlyle Lake in the 1970’s.  Jack was also an accomplished private pilot and a devoted family man.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Misegades, Sr.; sister, Nina Weber.

    Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Misegades; children, N. Gay (Roy) Anderson and J. Garde (Tina) Misegades, III; sister Jane White; grandchildren, David J. (Chanda) Anderson, Michelle M Misegades and Lauren L. Anderson; great grandson, James D. Mills.

    Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Visitation: Monday, January 7, 2019, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, Highland Community Church, Highland, IL

    Memorial Service: Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Highland Community Church, Highland, IL.

    Jack was one of my first flying students when I started instructing in 1978. He was a quick learner and a good pilot. He also built my big storage shed and the walk-in door still closes and latches perfectly 28 years later!
