    SHIRLEY JEAN LIBBY, 76, of Cisne, Illinois passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at her residence.

    Shirley was born September 17, 1942, to William and Letha (Runion) Baker. She married Carl B. Libby December 11, 1964 at Decatur, Illinois.  He preceded her in death August 31, 1997.

    Shirley loved to go fishing and tent camping with her family when they were young. She enjoyed canning anything out of her garden. She spent a lot of time making quilts with her good friend and neighbor, Linde, and enjoyed playing cribbage. She was a past member of the Johnsonville Ruritan Club, a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary for Women Post #603 of Cisne, and a past member of the Johnsonville Methodist Church.

    Shirley is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Red) Shingleton and Lori Payne of Cisne, Illinois; six sons, Earle (Donna) Libby of Red Bay, Alabama, Gary (Diana) Warnick of Bethalto, IL, Carl Jr. (Kathy) Mueller of LaPlace, IL, Howard (Barb) Libby of Lake Carroll, IL, David (Allene) Libby of IL, and John (Christy) Libby of Wayne City, IL; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents; and seven children.

    Funeral service for Shirley Libby will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will held prior to the service from 1-2pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsonville Cemetery.

    Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

    Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

    So sorry for your loss. My mom and Shirley always had a great time together. They always had a great laugh over something. I always enjoyed talking with her also. My mom was a hand quilter. When she passed away my Dad gave Shirley my mom’s quilting frames as she was looking for frames.

    What a sweet sweet woman! I’m saddened to hear of her passing. The girls & I at Cisne Rehab sure loved her! Very sorry for your loss, prayers for peace & comfort!
