    DENNIS “DENNY” MASSIE, 74, of Mt. Erie, Illinois passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

    Denny was born on July 2, 1944 in Olney, Illinois to Clyde and Nola Taylor Massie.  He was married to Linda Scarlato Massie who preceded him in death.

    Denny had been the site superintendent at Sam Dale Lake in Johnsonville retiring in 2013. He had also worked as a manager of the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Fairfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

    Denny is survived by his children, Linda Marie (Randy) Hemrich of Newton, Stefan Sterwerf of Mt. Erie and Wendy Massie of Centralia; Five grandchildren, Madeline and Laney Jo Hemrich, Dylan, Keaston, and Ethan Massie; one sister, Patty Massie of Mt. Erie and a brother, Chris (Linda L.) Massie of Mt. Erie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda Scarlato Massie.

    A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm. at the Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne, IL. The funeral service will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Travers Cemetery.

    Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home to be given to the charities of the family’s wishes.

    Dear Linda, Stefan and Wendy: I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was a wonderful guy. I enjoyed talking to him when he came into Citgo. I missed seeing him when I left. He kept me up to date on all of you. I hope you keep all your good memories close to your heart. Love, Cheryl Reel
