    CHERYL SHELTON, 81, of Fairfield, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

    Cheryl was born June 20, 1937 in New Canton, Illinois to Verlon A. and Virginia R. (Conner) Shannon.  She married Loyd Shelton and he survives.

    Cheryl had been a secretary for Morton International and was a strong Christian woman.

    Cheryl is survived by her husband Loyd Shelton of Fairfield, Illinois; a daughter, Rachel Raupp of Florida and son, Loyd (Karen) Shelton of Florida. Two brothers Raymond (Bess) Shannon of Carterville, Illinois and Danny (Darlene) Shannon of Carbondale, Illinois. Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, son, Jeff Shelton, brother Jimmy Shannon and sister Janice (Phillip) Schell.

    There will be Graveside services Monday, November 19th at 10:00am at the Buckeye Cemetery in Geff, Illinois. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne.

    Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    Loyd,Rachael and family,
    So sorry that we were unable to attend Cheryl’s visitation and services.We have had you all in our prayers.Cheryl was a sweet loving lady and always had a sweet smile.May you feel God’s peace and comfort during this time and days to come.
